After one joint ministerial decision completely banning access to the famous Shipwreck of Zakynthos, a new one will allow access even though with restrictions.
According to newspaper tanea.gr on Wednesday, a new ministerial decision is about to be issued allowing access to the shipwreck area only by sea.
Passenger boats will be able to approach Navagio Bay at a certain distance, which is estimated to be approximately 40 meters from the coast.
At the same time, it is possible for those who want to swim in the waters of the bay t5o do so, however, the prescribed distance that is expected to be defined, while it is forbidden to walk on the shore.
Taking into account the above exceptions, access to the Zakynthos Shipwreck will remain closed until October 31, 2023 due to landslides. It closed on March 16 after new evaluation of the landslides
These measures were taken by a joint decision of the Ministers of Citizen Protection, Maritime and Island Policy, Tourism and Climate Crisis, which was based on the recommendation of the professor and president of the Anti-Seismic Planning and Protection Organization (OASP), Efthymios Lekkas, who had pointed out that if “if any accident happens this will be disastrous.”
