The torture of a goat being dragged behind a car by a local driver on the island of Zakynthos was recorded by a shocked tourist. The perpetrator was soon identified and was fined with several thousands of euros for animal abuse.
The 63-year-old driver had tied the animal on the back of his car and was dragging it on the road. The poor goat would hardly follow the speed and was desperately stumbling on the asphalt road near Mouzaki.

The shocked tourist posted the video on social media and reportedly informed also a local animal welfare group.
The animal abuse took place on Thursday afternoon, June 15.

On Saturday, police identified the perpetrator and filed a case against him, for violating the Animal Welfare Legislation. Furthermore, he was handed a administrative fine of 30,000 euros.
The fate of the goat is not known.

The fine will never be paid,you cant take blood from a stone,if he dont have it how they will enforce the punishment?,he needs to go to prison and his property taken away.Some people have been waiting a life time almost for financial settlements awarded by the courts for damages to themselves,their children and their property to be paid but alas oh alas no monies have been forthcoming and no courts have the time,ability or desire to enforce that which is no longer their responsibility to over see.
And take away that big expensive 4 by 4,sell it and give the money to animal welfare.
I agree with all you said. These fines are ludicrous, prison is the best punishment and forfeiture of goods and property.
Where on earth is the culprit going to get the money from? The fine will never be paid. A prison sentence along with public humiliation is what is needed. He must never be allowed to own or work with animals for the rest of his life.
They surely have a house that can be confiscated. Greeks and no money, no way, most of them own several properties and have hidden away allot of tax free money. Thats why they all want secure doors and dogs, to protect their untaxed money.
