Greece’s Civil Protection is advising citizens to be particularly careful, to follow authorities instructions and to take measures to protect themselves from risks arising from severe weather phenomena that started on Monday, September 4, 2023.
On Sunday, an urgent teleconference was held for the imminent change of weather and the adverse weather condition expected.
At the meeting chaired by Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias, it was decided:
- activation of emergency line <112> to send warning messages
- more meetings with meteorologists, fire brigades and regional authorities
The Minister sent also a letter to municipalities and regional governors urging them to take the adequate measures.
