One 17-year-old student was brutally beaten and wounded and four students were arrested, when a group of teenagers engaged in a mass brawl in a high school in Peristeri suburb of western Athens on Wednesday.
The incident is added to the long list of violent incidents among minors.
Speaking to Skai TV, eyewitnesses said that a group of 14 teenagers entered the school and fell over the 17-year-old student, while some were recording the beating on video.
A victim’s classmate said that that attackers were from a school next door and the whole issue had to do about a girl.
Th victim was hit on the nose, his cheeks were swollen and had scratches.
A pal of him who tried to pull him away ‘received slaps, too.”
The two boys managed to flee, while an ambulance took the victim to a hospital for first aid and necessary medical tests.
Responding to a call, police officers went to school and arrested four minors who were pointed out by the eyewitnesses, while another 10 students are being sought.
At least one of the arrestees, a 16-year-old, will face charges for physical violence.
Violence among minors has dramatically increased since over a year with beatings, abuse, bulling and theft by youngsters of the same age or slightly older inside or outside the school to be in the news almost daily.
Now, the government finally decided beginning of the week to proceed with some measures.
