Dead fetus found in draining system in downtown Athens

Gruesome finding in a gutter in downtown Athens: a sewage worker found a dead fetus in a pipe of the draining system on Solonos Street on Monday evening.

The worker located the fetus via a camera while he was working under the building where the NGO Doctors Without Borders.

He informed police and the NGO with the latter to have received the dead fetus storing it in a box in a fridge.

Note that there is also a maternity clinic nearby.

Police investigation is in full development with authorities trying to identify the mother and clear up the strange case.

According to first estimations, the fetus was about 5 months old.

It is highly suggested that it was a miscarriage, while the scenario of an illegal abortion is not excluded.

An autopsy of the dead fetus is being currently under way, media reported.
