Grill customer argues about pork freshness, stabs the cook

Α customer in a grill diner in Thessaloniki stabbed the cook because he was not satisfied with his meal. The alleged drunken man in his early 50’s had argued with the cook over the freshness of pork roasted on spit (kontosouvli).

He fled on his motorbike on Sunday afternoon.

“He told me the kontosouvli was not of today and stabbed me,” the 65-year-old  cook told media from the hospital where he underwent a minor surgery.

Kontosouvli consists of large large pieces of pork on a spit, mixed with spices and roasted over open fire.

The incident took place in Menemeni districts on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to media, the cook described how the argument on the kontosouvli ended in stabbing.

“A customer who is known to the diner comes in, he was very drunk and ordered “potatoes, cheese and a pork kontosouvli”.

“He asked me is the kontosouvli fresh? I don’t see it as being fresh”. I insisted that it was fresh and that I do not serve anything else. I served him and he started swearing at my mother, insisting the pork spit was not fresh, and gave me back the dish.

The cook urged him to have respect and do not swear at his mother, the patron urged him to stop too and “at that point the customer gets up and grabs a fork with the right hand. The owner, a lady, grab his right hand and he, he takes a knife with the left hand and stabs me in the belly.”

The victim started to bleed, the attacker remained in the diner for a few minutes  and then fled on his motorbike.

An ambulance took the bleeding cook to a hospital, where he underwent a minor operation. He remains hospitalized, his life is not in danger.

The man was arguing often when he was drunk, the victim said.

Police is seeking for the attacker but hasn’t located him yet.
