A drone show with iconic Greek images, symbols and slogans took place over central Athens starting at 21:00 on Sunday to celebrate Greek Independence Day.
The show included 250 drone formations through coordinated lighting including 3D figures, logos, and words that alternated. They included images of a warship, 19th-guns, the naval cannon of the revolution, an Evzone, wishes on the occasion like “Long Live Greece” and the Greek flag.
The drone show was offered by the Region of Attica.
The show was pre-announced by the governor of Attica Nikos Hardalias who had urged Athenians to “look up to the sky short before 9 o clock on Sunday night”, however without revealing what kind of surprise was underway.
