“If asked, we’ll get off the couch and enter the battle,” heralds senior ND MEP

“If we are asked as NATO country, we will get off the couch and enter the battle,” New Democracy MP Vangelis Meimarakis told Greek media with regards the alarming developments in the Middle East.

Speaking to ANT1 TV, the 70-year-old MEP said “we will defend our principles, our values, the Western way of life, and we are ready to leave the couch and be the first to enter the front line of the battle.”

the point is not whether Greece will join warfare in the area, but that MEP get paid to spend the whole day on their couch and they send seniors to fight battles they cannot and are not willing to do.

PS I will refrain from live combat but will be glad to post here and on Twitter on grandpas’ adventures in the Middle East.

  1. When and if the sh– hits the fan , he and all the rest of the MEP jokers will be safely ensconced in their fully paid up 2nd homes, somewhere far away from the battle ,eating the free food and maxing out their expense accounts , surrounded by their loved ones , all aboard the gravy train .

    • well, all these politicians who are so eager to send people off to war, they must be the first ones to go. hand them each a rifle and a pack and off they go. only when they come back will we think about anyone else going.
there is a world of a difference between citizens defending their own country (an absolute must) and politicians and bankers and their corrupt pals sending kids off to fight and die in some foriegn place to further some corporation’s profits or some psychotic politician’s dreams or fears. send the politicians first.
at least back in the old days, when the king led his people into battle, he was in the front!

  2. That is not what is going to happen. They will send your children and grandchildren. Theirs won’t go. They will make sure of that.
