A new incident of violence between elected politicians, this time not in the Parliament but at the level of local administration. A municipal councilor punched in the face the deputy mayor of the municipality of Nikaia suburb of Piraeus on Thursday morning. The victim was taken to the hospital as he was bleeding on the forehead.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the incident took place outside Nikaia’s Magistrate Court, when the councilor attacked the vice-mayor of Infrastructure and Technical Services and punched him in the face.
The deputy mayor was taken to the hospital to receive first aid and to undergo medical tests.
The attacker has not been arrested, so far.
Both men belong to different factions.
The violent incident in Nikaia took place just one day after an independent MP punched an MP from another party inside the Greek Parliament.
