Convict leader of neo-nazi Golden Dawn, Michaloliakos, on early prison release

Nikos Michaloliakos, the leader of neo-nazi Golden Dawn, convicted for establishment of a criminal organization, will be released from prison with a special degree, a decision of the judicial council of Lamia, central Greece.

According to media reports on Thursday, the prosecutor rejects the release on grounds that the convicted leader has shown no remorse, so far, and has the right to appeal the decision.

The 66-year-old Michaloliakos is to be released after he has served 3/5 of his 13-year sentence and on restrictive conditions such as a ban to exit the country, to remain within the boundaries of Attica prefecture, a ban to meet with c0-convicts and to report to a local police station on monthly basis.

The competent prosecutor had opposed Michaloliakos who has submitted his objections to the judicial council.

According to prosecutor’s reasoning, the convict who lead the criminal organization Golden Dawn does not fulfill the essential conditions set by the law to be released from prison on special terms and that he remains unrepentant.

PS it must be a diabolic coincidence that his release is to take place before the EU elections, no?
