Thrilled Panathinaikos fans gathered at the Athens airport and thousands found their away to OAKA Stadium on Monday to welcome their basketball “heroes” and celebrate with them.
On Sunday, Panathinaikos defeated Real Madrid during the Final in Berlin to win the Euroleague title for the seventh time, after a break of 13 years.
The aircraft brought the new champions to Athens early Monday afternoon.
The team boarded an open bright green bus with the slogan “The King is Back” written on it.
It departed for the OAKA Olympic Stadium in Athens where the celebrations continue.
The champions bus arrived at OAKA short after 5 o’ clock needing 2.5 hours to cover the 24km from the airport, a distance that usually needs less than 30 minutes.
