  1. Looks like a great place to get away from the crowds and enjoy nature…

  2. I guess there are those amongst us that can not afford €200 per night for their long weekends.

Will they make facilities for them? or just ban them all over Greece from upsetting the ‘residents’

    • First and most important thing you do when visit a place is to respect the land and the locals! Period

      • Many beaches in North Evia have a tradition of free camping. Free campers don’t disrespect the locals. If there is a need there should be facilities put in place as there already have at some beaches.

  3. Obviously no respect for themselves.😒

  4. Why don’t people just rent a hotel or airbnb with their 5 euros an hour salaries? Let’s just go ahead and forbid free camping instead of providing the necessary facilities and make it possible for people to have some decent vacation, so they have to stay in Athens and suffocate during the summer invasion and be good slaves for the tourists.

    • Totally agree. This incident was an anomaly, but it will go along way towards banning free camping which is a tradition in these patrs of Evia

  5. Just a question: WHY does so called “wild camping” have to include damaging the area with garbage and excrements??? You take you garbage with you and for you excrements you use a plastic bag (for dogs “leavings”) to remove….! How hard can that be???? Your “pea” does not harm nature… It just takes some thought about the environment! So, until “wild campers” know how to behave, I can fully understand the locals!!

  6. This is exactly why I don’t like free camping. Every tree becomes a toilet. I find it disgusting. It’s not too bad if it’s just a few people, but imagine hundreds of ppl who must do their business every day. Even if it’s just pee, it smells, and puddles form. Plus people throw paper afterwards. What is really needed is a drain! Bagged poop, collected for days by many people also smells and attracts flies. Honestly, the best way is to swim out far and feed the fish, lol. Anyway, I am sure the campers are also disturbed by the “no toilet” problem. Someone should find a solution.
