Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning on Tuesday, drawing attention to heavy rainfalls and storms, accompanying by a high frequency of lightning and hail falls locally.
Unstable air masses coming from the north-west Balkans will bring weather deterioration mainly in the central and northern parts of Greece from midday Wednesday until late afternoon Thursday, July 3-4, 2024.

Wednesday, July 3
In eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the eastern parts of central Macedonia.
Thursday, July 4
a. In eastern Macedonia, Thrace and areas of central Macedonia -mainly Halkidiki.
b. In Thessaly – mainly in its western parts – and the Sporades islands.
c. In eastern Sterea, including Attica, north-eastern Peloponnese and Evia.
Please, keep in mind that summer storms are especially heavy and quick in northern Greece and avoid being in the sea or at the beach when you see one coming. A 13-year-old was killed by a lightning at a beach in Halkidiki just the other day.
