Thousands of Greeks and a sold-out concert dedicated to the 57 victims of the tragic train collision in Tempi is taking place at the Panathenaic Stadium in central Athens on Friday night, October 11, 2024.

An organization representing several families of the victims has organized the concert with the participation of  Greek singers such as Foivos Delivorias, Tania Tsanaklidou, Thanassis Papakonstantinou, Loudovikos ton Anogeion  and the band Koinoi Thintoi.

One and a half years later, the relatives speak with the voice of the victims, and unite through pain and their loss, inviting us all to become the voice of the bereaved,” the organizers said in a statement.

Young and old flocked to the ancient Stadium, while there is reportedly hundreds of people who could not find a ticket and follow the concert standing outside.

Several Municipalities across Greece also livestream the concert for those who cannot be there live.

Singers and musicians participate without payment.

Initial obstacles such as license by the Culture Minister and other institutions as well as by other family members of victims, were overcome due to public pressure.
