Greece’s Fire Service has announced the extension of the fire ban period in several regions across the country until November 15, 2024.
According to a statement, the fire ban period is extended in the following areas:
- -Attica Region: Central Athens, Northern Athens, Southern Athens, Western Athens, Piraeus, Islands, Eastern Attica and Western Attica
- -South Aegean Region (Kea Island)
- -Western Greece Region
- -Peloponnese Region (Argolis, Corinth, Laconia and Messinia)
- -Ionian Islands Region (Kefalonia, Ithaca, and Zakynthos)
- -North Aegean and South Aegean Region
- -Crete Region
- -Thessaly Region
- -Central Greece Region (Evia, Boeotia, Phocis, Evrytania and Aetolia-Acarnania)
- -Central Macedonia Region
- -Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region (including the islands of Thassos and Samothrace)

The announcement stressed that extensive inspections and patrols will continue in these areas to prevent the ignition and spread of fires.
Additionally, it is highlighted that severe criminal penalties are imposed under the new penal code.
