The official opening of the first Ronald McDonald Family Room – created by Ronald McDonald House Charities Hellas – was held at the Agia Sophia Children’s Hospital on Wednesday.
The Family Room can be used by families with children receiving treatment at the hospital, while the selection of families that can stay overnight will be made in consultation with the hospital, based on vulnerability and needs.
It is housed in a 310 square meter building renovated by the charity.
Τhe Ronald McDonald Family Room includes a kitchen and dining area, bathrooms, laundries, sitting room with a television, internet access and three family suites for overnight stays.
Parents can use the Family Room to rest and have meals, shower and wash their clothes and take a break before returning to their child’s bedside.
The Family room was inaugurated by Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistokleous in the presence of RMHC Global COO Rodney Jordan and other donors and health officials.
The charity provides approximately 2.7 million overnight stays for RMHC families around the world.
