The logo for the new Metro in Thessaloniki was unveiled on Wednesday by Transport Minister Christos Staikouras in a media presentation very close to a joke and awkward moments.

Is there any, one, director who would direct the minister to hold a piece of white cardboard in front of his face in the year 2024?
After 30 years of work the metro is scheduled to be inaugurated on November 30, 2024.
Officials said that the logo draws inspiration from Byzantine script and serves as the foundation for a visual identity designed to bridge the past, present, and future of Thessaloniki. It was said to combine the city’s authenticity and timelessness with the modern and innovative character of its metro system.
The design of the Thessaloniki Metro logo was awarded through a direct commission valued at 30,000 euros, following the cancellation of two previous tenders.

“Me without getting paid 30,000 euros.”
Greeks welcomed the logo with many ironic comments and some even found out that this μ in a cycle has been already used worldwide.

Many “saw” kickbacks behind the direct commission and a satirical magazine on ANT1 TV noted:
“30 years for the metro, 30,000 euros for the logo. This means 1,000 euros per year.”
What does this μ really means?
