Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather RED ALERT emergency report warning of heavy rainfalls and storms.
The weather deterioration is forecast to be of short duration and move from West to the East.
Weather Warning and affected areas, February 15-16
✅a. From late Saturday afternoon, Feb 15, the Ionian Sea, the coasts of Epirus, western Sterea, the western and southern Peloponnese.
✅b. From the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb 16, the eastern Peloponnese and temporarily the western and southern Crete, the Cyclades islands and the northeastern Aegean Sea.
A weakening of the phenomena is forecast from noon on Sunday and from the west.

Kefalonia
It is recalled strong rainfalls hit the island of Kefalonia late of Thursday (Feb 13) night causing landslides, floods and damages on the road network.

Landslides continued also until Saturday, Feb 15, and a couple of roads were temporarily closed to traffic, as inkefalonia.gr reported.


The village Piperata remains flooded also today, with residents telling local media and TV channels that the water reached half to one meter inside their homes.
Kefalonia is one of the islands in the Ionian Sea to be affected today as EMY warned.
