A mini summer in mid March is underway with meteorologists to forecast temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius in some parts of Greece, next to an invasion of Sahara dust and mud showers.
The meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens forecasts high temperatures for the season in the coming period, which in places will even exceed 30° C, but also intense transport of Sahara dust and southern winds.
Meteorologist Giorgos Tsatraphyllias speaks of “two intense waves of heat, dust and humidity this week…”, which will be accompanied by an increased concentration of African dust.
While, the director of the National Meteorological Service EMY, Thodoris Kolidas, speaks of “very high temperatures by 7 to 10 degrees Celsius above the normal seasonal levels.”

According to Meteo.gr, “high temperatures for the season will prevail in the coming days, mainly in Eastern Europe, while towards the end of the week, atmospheric circulation will favor the transfer of warm air masses from Africa to the Balkans and Greece, resulting in very high temperatures next weekend March 15-16, 2025.”
Forecast Tuesday, March 11 at 2 p.m.: 8-9 degrees Celsius higher than seasonal levels.
As can be seen in the video below, the temperature at the level of *850 hPa (approximately 1500 meters above sea level) on the midday hours of Tuesday, March 11, in Greece will be 8-9 degrees Celsius higher than normal levels for the season, while on the weekend March 15-16, it will reach levels of up to 14-15 degrees higher.”

Maximum values in the mainland are forecast to exceed 26° Celsius, while in Northern Crete they will exceed 30° Celsius.

PS I guess, we are allowed to start complaining about the heat already in early March, right? Can you imagine how hot June and July will be? I am personally a #team-summer but I really don’t want to know how hot summer 2025 will be.
