Defense Minister Nikos Dendias announced on Friday that salary increases for Armed Forces personnel will range from 13% to 20%, depending on the position of responsibility.
He said that the increases will be rolled out in three phases, beginning on April 1.
Dendias also highlighted that efforts are underway to improve the salaries of civilian staff.
According to the minister, 60% of the funding for the increases comes from resource savings.
“The homeland needs the best, and this cannot be achieved without cost,” he said.
Salary increases come as the Armed Forces saw an interest decrease of new students for the military academies in recent years.
