Paying a visit to Israel over the weekend, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a meeting with his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on and with President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem on Sunday.
Defense and energy were high on the agenda of the talks where the two prime ministers reaffirmed the strategic relationship between Greece and Israel and “discussed the further deepening of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of defense.”
Furthermore, they exchanged views on regional developments, with emphasis on the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as on the challenges in Syria, Lebanon and the Red Sea.

Regarding Lebanon, the Greek PM stressed “the importance of stability in the country and the maintenance of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon.”
Regarding Gaza, Mitsotakis asked for a “new ceasefire in Gaza and the unconditional release of all hostages.”
Earlier on Sunday, Mitsotakis met with President Isaac Herzog and with representatives of Israeli defense industries as well as top Defense Ministry officials.
In statements to the press, president Herzog thanked Mitsotakis “for supporting Israel in these difficult times.”
Meeting with the Palestinian authorities were not possible as efforts for an appointment were literally on the last minute, Greek television channels reported.
