Torrential rains on the island of Paros forced Greek authorities and the Civil Protection to impose a traffic ban on all roads of the island in the center of the island group of Cyclades on Monday afternoon, March 31, 2025.

Traffic circulation has been banned on all roads of Paros island due to extreme weather phenomena on Monday.
Videos from the sea resort of Naousa captured rushing waters sweeping away vehicles into the sea.
A 112 emergency message was sent to residents of the island through sms (text messaging) short before 6 o’ clock in the afternoon and warned them not to travel. Only emergency vehicles are allowed, the message said.

At the same time, the mayor of Paros issued a statement calling on residents and visitors not to travel around citing damages to the road network, landslides and sections collapses.
“We call on residents and visitors of our island, due to the dangerous weather phenomena affecting our island, as well as the major damage that has been caused to the road network, not to travel on the road network of our island. Emergency vehicles are excluded,” the Municipality statement read urging residents and visitors to follow authorities instructions.
Damage to the road network includes landslides, flooding and collapses of network sections, which makes travel dangerous. The municipality, in collaboration with the competent services, is making every effort to manage the emergency situation.
Speaking to Mega TV, the mayor of Paros said that schools remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, April 1. He stressed that there is an additional warning of intense weather phenomena from midnight Monday until 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to meteorologists, 45 mm of rain fell within 45 minutes.
It should be recalled that earlier on Monday, the Civil Protection sent a <112> warning message to residents and visitors of Cyclades islands due to extreme dangerous weather phenomena.
