“Easter Basket” available in Greek supermarkets as of April 7

The “Easter Basket”, a collection of goods offered at discount prices has been available in Greek supermarkets as of Monday, April 7, and will be in effect  until the day before Easter, April 19, 2025.

The “Easter Basket” includes products that traditionally belong to the Greek Easter table, such as lamb and goat meat, sweetbread ‘tsoureki’, chocolate Easter eggs and other chocolate products.

“The Easter Basket” was introduced in 2023 as an alternative with discount prices for several products to facilitate low income consumers enjoy the festive days.

Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos pointed out that this year, there is no need for a “Godfather’s Basket” as inflation in the relevant products is zero. This basket included the traditional Easter candle and a variety of toy that godparents give to godchildren.

It should be noted that extended shop opening hours over the Easter Holidays will apply from Thursday, 10 April, while stores will be open also on Sunday, April 14. KTG will report in detail in a separate post.
