Anarchists’ group claims responsibility for bomb at Hellenic Train

One and a half day after the bomb explosion at the offices of the Hellenic Train in central Athens, an anarchists’ group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a lengthy text a group calling themselves”Revolutionary Class Self-Defense” claimed responsibility for the bomb attack at the offices of Hellenic Train on Friday night but also to a bomb at the Labor Ministry in February 2024.

Both attacks caused material damages to vehicles and buildings, however, no injuries were reported.

The responsibility statement was uploaded on the anarchists’ website indymedia with a message to the Palestinian people, but also with reference to a man who lost his life in a bomb explosion in an apartment in Ampelokipi, central Athens, in October 2024.

In its lengthy declaration, the group cites the deadly Tempi train tragedy and a series of work-related deaths as the motives behind the attacks.

The group accuses the Hellenic Train and the Transport Ministry of “criminal liability” in the Tempi crash, criticizing the Greek government’s response and alleging a coordinated effort to obstruct justice.

It also accuses the Ministry of Labor for the almost daily and often deadly accidents of workers.

The text starts with “ASSUMPTION OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE BOMBING ARMED ATTACKS ON THE MINISTRY OF LABOR AND HELLENIC TRAIN” and continues with “Death on the scaffolding, death on the trains, capitalism feeds on blood”, a slogan that was “born in the great demonstrations of March 2023 against state capitalist crime in Tempi.”

The statement uses a strong anti-capitalist phraseology and stresses among others that “the peoples and the proletariat of the whole world when faced with the danger of tyranny: “Chains or arms”. Let us resolutely choose the latter!”

The statement ends saying that “these two [bomb] actions are dedicated to the Palestinian people and their heroic resistance.”
