Sailing ban has ferries docked in several ports of Greece

Ferries and ships are docked in several Greek ports since Monday morning, April 28, as port authorities imposed a sailing ban due to gale-force winds in the seas.

No ferries leave the ports of Rafina and Lavrio in Attica, while some itineraries were cancelled from the port of Piraeus.

According to media, the passenger ferry Aikaterini P will not operate from the port of Piraeus at 14:45 from Piraeus to Serifos, Sifnos, Kimolos, Folegandros, Sikinos, Ios, Thira as well as the return on Tuesday 29/04/2025 from Thira at 08:30 to Ios, Sikinos, Folegandros, Kimolos, Sifnos, Serifos, Piraeus.

The Super Jet and the Champion Jet catamaran routes to the Cyclades islands will not operate today from Piraeus, too.

The routes to the islands of the Saronic Gulf operate normally, although state broadcaster ERT reported that some were cancelled in the morning.

The Greek National Meteorological Service EMY issued a gale-force winds warning on Sunday. According to EMY, winds are blowing with 7 to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea and locally with gusts up to 9 B

If you plan to travel by sea on April 28-29, 2025, please, contact local port authorities or travel agents for possible changes in itineraries. Authorities are expected to issue an update of the sailing ban at 6 p.m. local time.
