The incredible incident occurred on Saturday night, May 17 and it looks as if patients and their companions had to spend the night inhaling the dirt as the repair crew assumed work on Sunday morning.

According to local media, the wards were filled with sewage from the toilet, causing chaos and creating an unbearable and extremely dangerous situation for the children, their companions and the staff.

The sewage also passed to the lower floor, where the Oncology Department is housed, worsening the situation.

Finally, on Sunday morning a private sewage crew repaired the damage.

According to ANT1 TV, the sewage started flowing in one room of the Children ward and quickly spread to other rooms and corridors. Patients were temporarily moved to other rooms.

On Monday rooms and corridors were clean and disinfected, while “the affected room remains clean but empty of patients,” ANT1 reported.

The hospital management are reportedly investigating whether the damage was caused by baby diapers flushed down the toilet or by pipes that were blocked due to other reasons.
