The 83-year-old Theofilos Tzohoounidis went for dialysis on Monday morning and when he returned he found all his belongings on the street. The nightmare returned for the elderly man and his 82-year-old wife, who were evicted again from their home.

The house had been put up for auction, even though, as they complain, the law protects them.

The shameful incident took place in Nea Flogita, Halkidiki in northern Greece.
According to local media xalkidikipolitiki.com, a locked gate and a court order forbade the man from returning to his home after the dialysis.

The people who entered, tore down the kitchen cabinets, knocked down walls and literally knocked over the wheelchair ramp at the entrance to the yard. In other words, they made the house uninhabitable, notes the local media.
.

Shocking scenes unfolded at the scene with the man’s wife collapsing and screaming repeatedly “Mercy! Mercy!”
These images were made public by the couple’s daughter, who filmed what was happening and uploaded them to social media, appealing for help.
“Where are we going? They have been torturing us for so long. They will only take me away from here for my funeral. I cannot walk. I will die,” said the helpless old woman. “You have left us nothing else, God’s mercy. Helpless people.”

The family complains that there is a court order that protects them until 2026.

In one of the previous attempts, in fact, the elderly had stayed in their yard for 56 days, refusing to leave. The last time the Greek Police took them out of their house, his daughter and grandson were arrested.
On Monday afternoon, new information reported by Xalkidiki Politiki revealed that Tzohounidis’ wife, as well as the couple’s two daughters, are being held by the authorities.
The bailiff and those who participated in the entry into the house are also being held. The bailiff is citing the first eviction decision, which —according to the Prosecutor’s Office— remains in force.

It should be recalled that evictions take place with the presence of police as one sees also on the thumbnail picture.
