Ferries have resumed services from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio to the Greek islands and the coastal connection has been fully restored since early on Monday, June 30, port authorities have announced. The weather conditions have shown significant improvement, allowing the smooth operation of the routes.
Winds blowing with intensity of 7 to 8 Beaufort and locally up to 9 B in many sea areas on Sunday had authorities to impose a sailing ban from the from the three main ports of Attica. The ban lead to multiple modifications and cancellations of scheduled routs and had thousands of passengers and holidaymakers stranded at these three ports or on the islands.
However, passengers who are about to travel by sea, by ferries or ships, are reportedly urged to contact local port authorities and travel agents or shipping companies as a precaution, to confirm the departure time of their routes.
