Felony criminal charges were brought on Wednesday against two men arrested in connection with the fire in Feneos forest that broke out in the region of the mountainous Corinth on Tuesday.The two men were working on an installation for a rave party inside the dense forest.
A 34-year-old Greek and a 33-year-old man from Kazakhstan were detained following the testimony of a police officer who saw them doing “hot work” involving a wheel and welding equipment. When the fire broke out the two workers tried to put it out with water buckets, however without success, state broadcaster ERT reported.
The workers are doing preparatory work for an installation to host a rave party inside the forest!
Local authorities told media that there was never such a permit for a party inside the forest.

According to ERT, the constructions are located near the village of Mosia and the photos published by the state broadcaster show the preparatory work for an installation to host a rave party.

The fire spread quickly inside the dense, virgin forest of fir and pine trees and went out of control burning down at least 1,200 hectares in less than 24 hours, killing wildlife and farming animals in pens, damaging properties in the nearby settlements and forcing the evacuation of dozens of people during the night. Two seasonal firefighters were injured during their effort to extinguish the blaze. One suffered minor burns and another sustained minor respiratory problems. Both were taken to the General Hospital of Corinth.

The two men were initially fined 11,812 euros as an administrative penalty and reportedly admitted to the act during the preliminary investigation.
The two suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Corinth investigator on Thursday to present their apologies.
PS Investigators of the Fire Service and the police as well as all local authorities involved should also investigate who were the organizers of the rave party who also hired the two workers. then we could have the whole picture of lawlessness in Greece.
