Twelve beaches in Greece have lost their “Blue Flag” in 2025 and were removed from the national and international program lists.According to the relevant announcement by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, the Greek branch of the program, the withdrawal of the “Blue Flag” from the specific beaches is due to inadequate organization.
The specific twelve beaches lost the “Blue Flag” award because they were either not adequate organized for this year’s swimming season, or they did not meet the strict criteria of the program, as established by the evaluations so far.
According to the program procedure, evaluators of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature and international evaluators who made unannounced visits, found deficiencies in the required compliance with the criteria that specifically related to: provision of services to bathers and visitors, including disabled people, safety of bathers/visitors and correct information. The deadline for displaying the Blue Flag was July 1.
The members of the National Crisis Committee and the Program Coordination Committee decided, as foreseen, to withdraw the awards in order to preserve the prestige and credibility of the institution.
The 12 beaches withdrawn from “Blu Flag lists 2025:
- Plaka Beach, Municipality of Nafplio, Argolida Region
- Kondyli Beach, Municipality of Nafplio, Argolida Region

The announcement emphasizes that the withdrawal of the “Blue Flag” from the above beaches is due to poor organization and that the quality of the bathing waters remains excellent, according to the program’s standards.
it should be recalled that two beaches in broader Athens & Attica area had their “Blue Flag” removed just a week after the publishing of the Lists 2025.
At the same time, inspection visits continue to all the awarded beaches in the country, visits that, for the most part, are made without notice. If deficiencies in compliance with the criteria are found in other beaches, other withdrawals will follow and will also be announced.
