A double earthquake rattled with 3.8 and 4.1 on the Richter scale Falasarna in western Crete early afternoon Monday, August 18, 2025.
The epicenters of both earthquakes were in the sea area off Falasarna.
The first tremor occurred at 3:05 p.m. with a magnitude of 3.8 Richter and it located 14 km WNW in the marine area of Falasarna, at a focal of 13.3 km.

The second tremor followed a few minutes later at 03:11 with a magnitude of 4.1 R.
According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the second earthquake occurred in the marine area 13 km WNW of Falasarna and at a focal depth of 6.3 km.
There have been no reports of injuries or material damage.
