An airplane from UK to Turkey made an emergency landing at “Macedonia” airport in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on Monday night after a British man assaulted another passenger.
The plane was traveling from Manchester, UK, to Antalya, Turkey, and made the emergency landing at 11 p.m.
According to local media, a 35-year-old British man attacked and started punching a 41-year-old Turkish man, resulting in alarm in the cabin.
The reason for the assault is still unknown.
For security reasons, the plane made an emergency landing at “Macedonia Airport”, where police officers from the Security Department of Thessaloniki Airport Police Directorate handcuffed the 35-year-old Briton.
The victim had to be examined by a doctor who confirmed that he was fit to travel.
The arrested man is expected to be taken to the Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday.
