Greece’s Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the developments in the Global Sumud Flotilla after Israeli defense forces intercepted several boats in the international waters late on Wednesday and arrested all those onboard, including 27 Greek activists.
From the 44 boats participating in the flotilla carrying some 500 foreign activists and aid to Gaza, the IDF has reportedly seized 32, among them the Greek “Oxygono.” The remaining boats kept sailing to the shore of Gaza.

“”Our priority is the safety of citizens,” foreign ministry spokesperson Lana Zochiou said on Thursday, adding that all 27 Greeks were all in good health and that “there is no evidence of violence by the Israeli forces.”
She underlined that there is constant communication with the Greek embassy in Tel Aviv and the ambassador to Israel will go to the location where the 27 Greek citizens are right now.
Earlier today, foreign minister Giorgos Gerapetritis had said that the seized boat were led to the port of Ashdod.
Zochiou also stressed that the ministry made a demarche to the Israeli side and raised the issue of ensuring the protection of Greek citizens.
She noted that all actions will be taken in Israel to provide the necessary consular assistance, while adding that “the registration, control and deportation of those who participated in the flotilla will follow.”
Zochiou said also that FM Gerapetritis is in contact with his Israeli counterpart.
She recalled the joint statement issued by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Greece and Italy on Wednesday, calling for the protection of the participants in the flotilla.
With Greece being one of the loyal supporters of Israel no matter what spokesperson Zochiou clarified that Greece’s relationship with Israel, with which “we have a Strategic Partnership and we want to maintain it”, is not being disrupted.
It is indicative that the official position is that the “Israeli forces stopped the boats.”
Immediately after it was clear that the interception by IDF was underway, a call was out in Athens and in an hour a crowd of people carrying Palestinian flags marched through the city center to the foreign ministry.

So, piracy and kidnapping in international waters by the oh so moral IDF. Meanwhile the paid-for-your service Greek quisling government forgets that they and we are all Amalek too.
