Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos, paid a short visit to Panos Ruci, the father of Tempi victim Dennis, on 22nd day of his hunger strike.
“A man is suffering and I came to see this man,” the Archbishop stated during this move of high symbolism.
The Archbishop was in the Parliament on Monday morning where he performed the religious ceremony for the start of the new Parliament term and right after the service he visited the father on hunger strike.
Archbishop Ieronymos refrained from any political statement during the brief meeting with the father who asked him “Don’t you think my cause is justified?” and the head of the Church of Greece responding “I came to see a man who is suffering.”
Panos Ruci has been ‘camping’ outside the Parliament since he started his protest demanding exhumation of his son’s body for toxicological tests so that the exact cause of his death is determined, a request so far rejected by the government.
