Price reductions at average 8% for 2,000 products in supermarkets, says Ministry

More than 2,000 product codes are now available at reduced prices in supermarkets, with an average discount of 8%, the Development Ministry announced Wednesday.

The price reductions are part of a Ministry initiative aimed at easing costs for the households and is the result of the cooperation between the Development Ministry and major retail chains and suppliers.

The price reductions are in effect as of today, October 15 and will be valid until December 31, 2025.

The list contains 1,074 codes regarding food items and 1,106 codes for other product categories.

Indicative the price reductions per product category (which vary by company and product code) are as follows:

  • Salt: From -5% to -8%
  • Flour: From -5% to -12%
  • Cold meats: From -5% to -30%
  • Soft drinks: From -5% to -18%
  • Detergents – Cleaners: From -4% to -30%
  • Dairy products: From -3% to -13%
  • Yogurts: From -3% to -13%
  • Sweets – Chocolates: From -3% to -17%
  • Household items: From 3% to 10%
  • Personal hygiene items: From -3% to -10%

The total number of product codes and reductions “significantly” exceeds the initial target, the Development Ministry noted.

Price reductions in supermarkets has been deemed as urgent and essential as the high cost of living has even loyal new Democracy voters to turn their back to Mitsotakis government.
