A new incident of administration of wrong medication to a public hospital patient. This time the victim is a cancer patient under chemotherapy who received the wrong medication in the Larissa University hospital earlier on Thursday.
It was a nurse who realized the mistake halfway through the chemotherapy and alerted the doctors.
The doctors reportedly estimate that there will be no complications in the woman’s health.
Meanwhile, the patient has been removed from the clinic to another facility where she is undergoing all necessary tests.
Worth noting that the chemo-drug aimed at the victim was also incorrectly administered to another cancer patient under chemotherapy!
The hospital management ordered an urgent internal investigation to find out who and why the wrong chemo-drug was administered to the woman as well as her her won -the correct – medicine has ended up.
The situation of incorrect administration of drugs in Greece’s hospitals appears to have slowly gone out of control and despite the several mistakes in recent months – where two of them ended fatally – safety protocols are not being followed as they should.

What the 🤦 heck is going on?
work overload, staff shortage
And not following safety protocols. A serious issue across all industries in Greece for decades. It’s part of the culture and persists with or without staff shortages and funding cuts.
