Migration Ministry dismisses reports “migrants to return to Greece” with EU’s Migration Pact

Migration and Asylum Ministry sources refuted media reports related to returns of migrants, clarifying that in talks with Germany and other countries and in the context of applying the Migration Pact, Greece agreed to delete all pending ‘Dublin’ cases, which in Germany alone related to 515,000 cases and over 100,000 in the last 4 years.

All such cases are fully deleted and will not concern Greece again, the sources said.

Similarly, they said, also deleted will be all cases of illegal migrants entering Germany from Greece until the implementation date of the Migration Pact on June 12, 2026. In other words, if someone enters Greece illegally and goes to Germany by June 12, 2026, their case will be deleted and will not be considered as a return.

Following that, the Migration Pact ratified by the European Union since 2024 will be applied, and Greece will begin the implementation of the Pact with zero obligations of returns, the sources said.
