Producers from all over Northern Greece and Thessaly arrived at the passenger gate of the port of Thessaloniki with tractors and agricultural vehicles, in order to participate in the protest rally, one more since beginning of the month.

Farmers from the Chalcedona blockade started with their tractors towards the tolls of N. Malgari, where they met with their colleagues and continued all together, in a motorized march, towards the port. A little later, the march also began from the blockade at the “Green Lights” in Thessaloniki, with the procession moving from Moudanion to Konstantinou Karamanlis and then, crossing Egnatia, reaching the port.

Students and labor unions are at their side, shouting slogans in favor of the farmers.

“We spoke yesterday with the port master of Thessaloniki, so that we could enter peacefully, so as not to block the road and inconvenience the people. He did not accept it. We are here, to send another message to the government. The noose around it has tightened. We will not bend. Mitsotakis has no place in Greece anymore. Let him take the government to Brussels. The government is trying to put Trojan Horses to create problems in the struggle. They will not pass.” said the agricultural unionist, representative of the blockade in Malgara and initiator of the blockade of the port of Thessaloniki, Costas Anestidis.

At the same time, Anestidis denounced the police decision to prohibit the movement of farmers from Siatista on some 20 buses.

Then other agricultural unionists took the floor. “Let them come, let them arrest us. We are not like the frapedes*. We are honest farmers, livestock breeders, beekeepers, fishermen who are fighting for our just demands. “The government should not say that it does not know our demands,” said Costas Tzellas, president of the Union of Agricultural Associations of Karditsa from the E65 blockade.
