Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis ultimately cancelled his trip to Davos on Wednesday “citing adverse weather conditions” and flew straight to Brussels on Thursday to attend the informal European Union leaders’ summit.
Mitsotakis was supposed to attend the World Economic Forum in Switzerland and his departure was scheduled from Elefsina military airport in the morning hours on Wednesday.
Around noon, government sources told media that the flight was been delayed due to “adverse weather conditions”
The delay raised first questions as the strong rainstorm hit Greece later in the afternoon.
State broadcaster ERT recalled that “the Prime Minister was scheduled to fly to Zurich early Wednesday afternoon, where he would participate in speeches at the WEF. He was then scheduled to travel to Brussels to participate in the extraordinary Summit of European Leaders on Greenland, however this was not possible due to bad weather conditions.”
Anyway, the flight to Davos was ultimately cancelled and he flies directly to Brussels today.
According to daily efsyn, “despite not flying to Davos, the Prime Minister was absent from the discussion on the formation of an inter-party committee to address the agricultural issue, with the entire opposition criticizing his absence.”
Some mean Greeks claim that “in essence the PM avoided Davos, due to the peace council and US Trump. He avoided commitments, waiting for the European line on the issue to be formed.”
