Man arrested for stabbing to death his father; he had murdered his mother 12 years ago

Police arrested on Sunday a 46-year-old man who had stabbed to death his 80-year-old father short time earlier. Twelve years ago, the arrestee had stabbed to death his own mother and has a history of psychological issues including admission to a mental health institution.

The body of the elderly man was found in the trunk of the perpetrator’s car on Sunday morning in Glyfada suburb of southern Athens.

It was a neighbor who alerted police reporting an incident of domestic violence. Police rushed to the scene but it was too late for the elderly man.

“I have two siblings, I will kill my siblings, too,if you set me free again,” the perpetrators told police officers during his arrest, state broadcaster ERT reported.

According to police the son was convicted in March 2014 for the brutal stabbing of his mother to death in the bathroom. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison. His father initiated all legal proceedings and managed that he was released from prison in four years and one month.

Preconditions for his release were that he lived with his father and report to the local police station every 1st and 16th of the month.

Now everybody is wondering how a man convicted for the murder of his mother and with a history of psychological problems was allowed to wander around posing a threat to his own family and the society.
