Strong southern winds blowing with intensity of 7 to 8 and locally up to 9 Beaufort have led to disruptions of the sea traffic and even a sailing ban on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Ferry itineraries from the port of Piraeus to the island group of Cyclades were cancelled early in the morning.
Problems have been caused in some coastal ferry routes due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in many maritime areas of the country.
A slight weakening of the winds is expected as of the afternoon.
The Coast Guard announced that due to the weather conditions, the coastal ferry routes to the Cyclades were not carried out.
In the Saronic Gulf speedboats do not operate, while conventional ships move at the discretion of the captain.
Cancellations were also noted from the port of Rafina, in south-eastern Attica, as the morning route to the Cyclades was not carried out, with the next scheduled route being postponed to the afternoon.
Accordingly, also some routes from the port of Lavrio, also in SE Attica, to the island of Kea were not carried out.
Depending on the weather phenomena, itineraries from Rafina and Lavrio are expected to resume after 4 o’ clock in the afternoon.
Tthe Kavala-Prinos ferry line remains closed, as well as the Agia Marina-Nea Styra line.
Passengers intending to travel by sea are requested to contact local port authorities, travel agents and shipping companies prior to their departure, in order to be informed in time of any changes or cancellations of itineraries.
