Limited interest in transporting natural gas via the “vertical corridor” was expressed in the auction for February held on Monday.
According to sources, a bid was submitted for the transport of 48 megawatt hours via Revithoussa, while there was no interest in the other two routes via the Alexandroupolis floating Liquefied Natural Gas station and the TAP pipeline.
According to state-run news agency AMNA, sources at the Ministry of National Economy attributed the low interest to the international geopolitical turmoil and the uncertainty this entails, as well as the ambiguous stance of the EU, which has decided to cut off supplies of Russian natural gas without, however, resolving the regulatory issues for the emergence of new supply routes.
The vertical corridor includes the pipeline system from Greece to the Balkans and up to Ukraine. It is also recalled that no interest was expressed in the auctions held last month (December), however, the same sources at the Ministry of Economic Affairs expressed optimism for the next tender procedures.
