Students throughout Greece rallied on Thursday to mark the third anniversary of the train tragedy in Tempi, central Greece, where 57 people were killed, among them 13 high-school and university students.
Central slogan of the students was “Justice for the victims!” and “No Cover-up!”

“Three years after the crime in Tempi, justice has not been served. We are students, we are young people and we ask to have a life with perspective,” said a student at the rally said.
In Athens, protesters wrote again with red paint the names of the 57 Tempi victims on the plates in front of the Monument of the Unknown Soldier.

During the rally in the Greek capital, some protesters threw paint at the Labor ministry and tension with the riot police forces went high.

Seven students were detained and one minor for having a knife in his possession.

Rallies were held also in Thessaloniki, Patras and other cities.
Protest rallies on February 28
It is recalled that nationwide protests are scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 28, the exact day of the Tempi train tragedy. the protests are scheduled to begin at 12 noon.
A big rally is to take place in front of the Parliament and the Syntagma Square in downtown Athens, and some metro stations in downtown Athens will be closed to public as it has been a custom by Greek police in the last couple of years.

Organizers are the association of Tempi victims’ relatives, labor unions, students’ unions and workers’ federations.
