Repatriations of Greeks from the Middle East

Greece’s Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday the first repatriation of a total of 162 Greeks and their family members from the Middle East. The repatriation was conducted  on March 3 and 4, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the following repatriations were made:

– Ninety-three Greek citizens and their family members, from Oman, on a special Aegean Airlines flight, under the auspices of the Embassies of Greece in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
– Forty-two Greek citizens from Bethlehem by road to Egypt, accompanied by the Consul General of Jerusalem.
– Twenty-seven members of the ARIS Thessaloniki Basketball youth group Κ18, who traveled by air from the UAE to Istanbul and from there by road to Thessaloniki, under the auspices of the Consul General of Istanbul.

According to the announcement, repatriation operations are continuing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains fully prepared to provide all possible assistance to Greek citizens affected by the war situation in the wider Middle East.

Meanwhile, state broadcaster ERT reported that a C-130 of the Greek Air Force has evacuated a few dozens of Greeks from Abu Dhabi on Thursday morning and is now flying back to Greece.

At the same time, Greek students in Cyprus are also returning to Greece due to the unstable security situation there. Media reported that their families have been worrying and and asked them to return.
