A major operation conducted by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime has been underway since early on Tuesday to dismantle a ring that is allegedly active in the illegal conduct of gambling.
According to police, the members of the criminal organization were making millions of euros in profits.
The ring also defrauded the players with a specially designed software installed to the slot machines to increase their losses
Police said that group member installed slot machines equipped with a software designed to increase players’ losses in internet cafes and coffee shops.
So far, at least 17 arrests have been made, while extensive searches are being carried out in residences and health care facilities in various areas of Thessaloniki, Attica, Patras and Agrinio.
