Greece’s Transportation Ministry issued a new regulation according to which the obligatory First Aid Kits in vehicles must contain 16 specific items. Those violating the regulation are threatened with fines.
The Kits must include 16 items of specific specifications that increase its cost.
The new regulation, which comes into effect as of June 18, 2026, dictates that every car must have a first aid kit with at least 16 basic first aid items of specific sizes.
According to media, all road motor vehicles except two-wheelers circulating in Greek territory are required to carry a first aid box containing medical supplies, suitable for immediate use in the event of an accident or emergency
The obligation of drivers to have a Fist Aid Kit is not new, but new is the list of the 16 items it has to contain.
According to the new regulation by Deputy Transport minister, kostanstinos Kyranakis, the 16-items list must include several items of specific , among others:
isothermal rescue blanket of specific dimensions
plasters
bandages
dressings for burns and wounds
first aid scissors
disposable gloves
wet skin cleansing wipes
medical face mask as well as
first aid instructions
The pharmacy supplies must be within their expiration date, in good condition and bear the CE marking in accordance with the EU Medical Devices Regulation.
The decision sets clear instructions even for the placement of the pharmacy, noting that it must be located inside the vehicle in a place that is immediately accessible, so that it can be used without delay in case of emergency.
At the same time, it is prohibited to be locked or to contain objects beyond the necessary bandage and pharmaceutical material.
At the same time, it is stipulated that owners or drivers are responsible for the immediate replenishment of materials after each use, while pharmaceutical material should be renewed regularly, especially in the summer months, due to the storage conditions and in any case not after two years.
In fact, in case of non-compliance, a fine of 30 euros is provided, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 25 of article 85 of the Road Traffic Code (Law 5209/2025).

And where do we put the small suitcase this lot will require – the blanket itself comes in a package that is 40x25x25cm !!?
I suppose this is a late April Fool article. Even the useless and corrupt Mitsotakis government cannot be so stupid as to promote this worthless vote-losing idea.
Given the probability of being caught, the cost of buying the kit and continuously updating its contents and the level of the fine I suspect it is cheaper to ignore the law and risk the fine?
You said at least 4 times that there are 16 items at are needed; but at no time did you mention the 16 items.
click the link in side the post to find full list & dimensions – everyone expects all info one needs served for free. seriously?
So should those with no first aid training….stop to read the first aid instructions first, before giving assistance?
I presume some in government have purchased shared in first aid kit manufacturing and supply company.
Is this a joke???
How can this help in a traffic accident?
