Eleven people have been hospitalized following the fire that broke out in a spare parts business facility early on Thursday in Aspropyrgos area in western Attica.
Of the 11 injured, three are intubated and in serious condition. One of them has severe burn injuries.
The remaining injured have mostly respiratory problems and/or minor burn injuries.

The fire broke out after an explosion around 8 o’ clock in the morning in the spare parts and scrap business in the industrial area of Aspropyrgos.
Black smoke has been released in the air and some media speak of toxic smog.

Authorities have issued an alert via emergency line <112> urging residents to immediately evacuate the area.
A total of 75 firefighters have been deployed at the fire, with 20 fire engines, along with four specialized vehicles, including two aerial ladder units, one specialized refinery aerial unit and one vehicle for refilling breathing devices.

One helicopter was assisting firefighting efforts from the air.
By 12 noon, the fire is still burning, while firefighters continue their struggle to extinguish it.
