A 19-year-old woman was found on a square of Argostoli by ambulance rescuers early morning on Tuesday. The young woman had a very weak to non-existent pulse. They rushed her to the hospital of Kefalonia, less than one kilometer away, where she died short time later, despite the doctors’ efforts.
The Ambulance service had received a phone call and when rescuers arrived at the square, there were two young men nearby who declared they had no idea how the young woman ended there.
The next day, authorities announced that three young men were arrested in connection the with the woman’s death.
The suspects are a 26-year-old former weightlifting champion kicked out from the Federation at the age of 19, a 22-yesr-old Albanian national and one more Greek, a 23-year-old local man.
According to media information, the former weightlifter supplied the victim and her 23-year-old friend with the drugs, and later called in the Albanian national when things turned ugly in the hotel room to help. The ex champion also returned to the room later to eliminate any traces and evidence.

The young woman and the three men allegedly used cocaine in a booked hotel room opposite the square. CCTV footage and witnesses’ testimonies quickly led authorities to the three men who were arrested on Wednesday.
According to media, the young woman allegedly fell very ill after the first use of cocaine. But instead of taking her to the hospital, the suspects wasted precious time that could have possibly saved her life and in the end disposed the dying woman at the square.

CCTV footage shows one of the men, the weightlifter, carrying the woman who seems to have passed out.
