Minor arrested for transporting illegal migrants on e-scooter

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for illegally transporting two immigrants on an e-scooter in Thessaloniki, northern Greece.

When the police signaled him to stop, the 17-year-old boy, along with the two immigrants, increased the scooter’s speed and tried to escape, thus throwing a folding dagger onto the road. However, police managed to stop and arrested him.

The underage Egyptian national, was arrested in Thessaloniki on Thursday morning.

Arrested were also the two migrants, one from Nepal and one from Pakistan, as they had not legal documents with them and were residing illegally in the country.

Police investigation revealed that the two men had illegally entered Greece from Evros in the previous 24 hours, while they were temporarily staying in an apartment in Thessaloniki.

The Egyptian minor had allegedly took charge of transporting them on a scooter to another accommodation.

It is not known whether the e-scooter was rented or belonged to the gang involved in human trafficking.
