The definite end of reality show “Survivor Greece” after the serious injury of one contestant was officially announced by SKAI TV on Wednesday.
According to SKAI announcement for “Survivor Greece”, the serious injury of contestant Stavros Floros brought about the premature end of the reality show.
It is recalled that 21-year-old player Stavros Floros was seriously injured on Monday, May 11, while snorkeling in Santo Domingo and was hit by a boat propeller. He underwent ambulation of part of one of his legs.
According to latest information, Floros is expected to undergo a new surgery by the end of the week at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, USA.
Floros was his teammate Manos Malliaros when the accident happened and “both had buoys with them,” Acun Media producer Ajun Ilitzali had stated regarding the incident.
“Following the serious injury incident involving Stavros in Santo Domingo, our priority has been exclusively his health and safety,” Skai TV said in a statement.
“Stavros remains under close monitoring by a team of specialized doctors, at one of the top medical centers in America, with his family members and production staff by his side, who continue to provide every possible support,” it stressed.
It added that “from the very beginning, the events that led to Stavros’ injury are being evaluated in detail, in order to have a complete picture of the circumstances of the accident. An extensive investigation is already underway with the assistance of local authorities, with the aim of fully capturing all the data.”
Through joint discussions with the other players and in a particularly emotionally charged climate, it was decided that the game could not continue after this specific incident.
Thus, the decision was made to definitively end Survivor, “with absolute priority given to the human factor.”
The participants will gradually return to Greece in the coming days “with all necessary assistance, including psychological support whenever needed.”
Nevertheless, Skai TV will broadcast the last council of the island at 21:00 on Wednesday.
